「聖約翰受難曲」採自新約聖經中之約翰福音，具備了強烈的戲劇性、啟示性及祈禱般的強大威力。作曲大師布烈頓、男高音皮爾斯及英國室內樂團共同演出的這個版本最獨特之處在於歌詞部份改以英文演唱，總譜由布烈頓親自校定，英譯文亦由皮爾斯及艾蒙根．蒙爾斯特合力完成。難能的是巴哈音樂特質與魅力絲毫未減，而演出者之全力投入與出色的詮釋更造就無比的權與崇高的精神力。
